Cumming Bathroom Remodel: Prettier By The Day

Last time we checked in on this bathroom remodel in Cumming, GA, we told you it was not it's soon-to-be beautiful self! Demolition can be a hard phase to live through, but in very little time the new space starts taking shape. Large, earth-toned tiles were laid on the diagonal on the bathroom floor, and the tub deck. These created a rich, neutral base color as well as giving the visual impression of a larger space and movement throughout the bath. (diagonal tile is a simple but effective trick for smaller spaces that moves the viewers eye around the focal points of the room)

Continuous bands of mosaic tile draw the eye up, up, up to a large focal point inside the frameless shower! The large window will now lend additional light to the shower space and the tile will reflect the light around the entire room.

Rich and luxurious looking cabinetry is topped by contemporary vessel sinks and fixtures. This bath has come a long way from faded chevron wallpaper, don't you think? You can understand when you look at this bath as a representation of the client's taste and style, why that old bathroom was not working for them. Stylish and contemporary people don't want to start and end their day in a out-dated and homely space!

This beautiful bathroom is nearly finished and we will surely update you when all is complete! If you have any questions about a bathroom remodeling project of your own, you can find out how to get started on AK's website here: Atlanta Bathroom Remodels

5 (Different) Countertop Choices You Should Consider

Laminte. Corian. Countertop innovations are coming and going constantly! While materials like granite are a classic, and will look beautiful forever, what other countertop materials can take the punishment a kitchen dishes out? These are our Top 5 alternates!

  • STAINLESS STEEL: Stainless steel lends a modern look to nearly any kitchen! Stainless steel coordinates with any color and is one of the easiest countertop materials to clean — just wipe it with a cloth and mild soap. The most appealing characteristic of this material is its ability to prevent bacteria buildup, making it the most hygienic countertop available. Of course stainless steel won't work in every kitchen design, but if you're ready for a change a professional firm like AK can help you incorporate this look into your space!
  • GLASS: Aside from its sleek, clean appearance, glass countertops have many benefits. Glass can be cut into any shape and texture and can be stained in any color. Even though it's a pricier option, it's becoming increasingly more popular because of its modern look. It's easy to keep clean and its non-porous surface makes it stain-resistant and one of the most hygienic countertop materials available. To make it more durable, choose glass that's at least 1 inch thick and tempered.
  • CONCRETEConcrete countertops are highly customizable — you can choose any stain color and  texture. Concrete mixes well with many different materials, such as glass, tile and marble to create a one-of-a-kind look. Aside from its eye-pleasing appearance, it is energy efficient — when the temperature in your home rises, concrete captures the heat and releases it when the temperature cools down.
  • WOOD: To get a rich, warm look in your kitchen, opt for thick wood countertops. Wood countertops can be both functional and decorative. Functional ones are ideal for chopping food, and most decorative ones are installed on kitchen islands for a luxurious look. Once sealed, wood countertops are sanitary for chopping meat, and you don't have to worry about putting hot pots and pans on the surface because it's heat-resistant. Check out AK's page for more on wood countertops!
  • QUARTZ: Quartz is one of the hardest substances on earth and is practically maintenance-free. It doesn't need to be sealed like many other stone countertops and is extremely durable. AK has used many different kids of quartz products and we're happy to discuss their pros and cons for your unique project!

Remodeling: Not The Prettiest Part...

Been through a remodel before? Then you know demolition is NOT the prettiest part of the project. It can be downright scary for a homeowner. Seeing cabinets coming out, flooring ripped up, tile coming down...During this part of the remodel you are constantly thankful for the fact you chose a remodeler that you trust! AK knows this and we are more than happy to answer extra questions from clients during this step of the process. We also take extra care to make sure the jobsite is protected and as little dust and mess as humanly possible drifts in to the rest of the house! We've lived through remodeling projects ourselves; we know what it's like!
